THE OPERATION OF ANGELS IN THE LIFE OF JESUS

John 1:48-51 (GNB) Nathanael asked him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered, “I saw you when you were under the fig tree before Philip called you.” “Teacher,” answered Nathanael, “you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus said, “Do you believe just because I told you I saw you when you were under the fig tree? You will see much greater things than this!” And he said to them, “I am telling you the truth: you will see heaven open and God’s angels going up and coming down on the Son of Man.”

It is sad to note that many believers are more conscious of demons than they are of the angels of God. The angels of God are more powerful than the devil’s demons. When Elisha said to Gehazi, “they that are with us are more than they that are with them” in 2Kings 6:16, he was referring to the angels of God. The devil knew that Jesus was very conscious of angels so he used the concept of angels as part of his temptations to Jesus, (Matt.4:6). The operations of angels were a regular experience in the life of Jesus and because we are in Him, we too have the privilege of enjoying the operations of the angels of God in our lives.

Right before Jesus was born, an angel of God appeared and gave the message of birth to Mary His mother (Luke 1:26-27). An angel of God informed the shepherds about the birth of Jesus, (Luke 2:8-11). An angel
of God also appeared to Joseph and gave him directions both for not rejecting Mary (Matt.1:19-20) and also for taking Jesus and Mary to be safe from Herod’s plan to kill Jesus (Matt.2:13-14). Angels of God came to minister strength to Jesus after He was tempted by the devil (Matt.4:11) and while He was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:41-44). An angel of God rolled away the stone from Jesus’ tomb (Matt.28:1-3) and an angel informed the disciples about the resurrection of Jesus (Matt.28:5-7).

Just as the operation of angels greatly surrounded the birth and the life of Jesus, I pray for you that, as we celebrate Christ’s birth this season, you will experience the abundant operations of the angels of God in your life. The angels of God will minister to you, and for you, in greater ways than these.

Prayer Focus:
Thank God for the privilege he has given you to experience the operations of his angels in your life. Declare that angels operate in your life.
