THE PASSION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST (1)

LUKE 2:49 (TPT), JOHN 4:34 (KJV, LB)

Jesus said to them, “Why would you need to search for me? Didn’t you know that it was necessary for me to be here in my Father’s house, consumed with Him?”*Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God who sent me, and from finishing his work.”

If we are indeed serious about living the life of Jesus, we must be very deliberate about focussing on Jesus and allowing our lives to be filled with His passion and consumed with what consumes Him also. Right from age 12, Jesus began to spend quality time in the temple, seeking to know God better and to be consumed with God and His will. He was deliberate about preparing Himself to carry out the business that God the Father had sent Him to do. He did not give excuses or while away time. He carried out the work of God with a sense of purpose, responsibility and urgency (John 9:1-7)

He derived His nourishment and satisfaction from carrying out and completing that which God asked Him to do.

While on earth , Jesus showed great love and compassion to people. He went about preaching the Gospel, doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil (Matt 9:36-37, Acts 10:38). He came to seek and to save the lost(Luke 19:10). He did not come to be served but to serve others and give His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). Jesus also spent quality time in prayer, fellowshipping and growing in His intimacy with God the Father. He rose up early (Mark 1:35) and often withdrew Himself to pray (Luke 5:15-16). Sometimes praying all night (Luke 6:12).

Prayer:
Father I desire to know you, serve you and do your will with the same passion Jesus has. Fill my heart with the passion of Jesus.
