THE PASSION OF PAUL

Philippians 3:7,9-10 (TPT) Yet all of the accomplishments that I once took credit for, I’ve now forsaken them and I regard it all as nothing compared to the delight of experiencing Jesus Christ as my Lord! *My passion is to be consumed with him ….And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus more fully and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me…

The life of Apostle Paul is filled with so many testimonies, power and inspiration for us as believers in Christ Jesus. Right from the beginning of his encounter with Jesus, he asked Jesus two basic questions – “who are you, Lord?” and “what will you have me do?”(Acts 9:5-6). From this point, the rest of his life was characterized by this same passion to know Jesus and to do what Jesus desired for him to do. He was so passionate about knowing Christ and becoming like Christ that he counted everything else as “dung.”

Along with his many sufferings, a major pain point for Paul was the daily burden he had for various churches (2Cor.11:28). He prayed for other believers every day (Rom.1:9, Eph.1:16). He was so caring and loving and willing to reach out to encourage others- even from prison. He worked harder than others but he acknowledged that it was only by the grace of God (1Cor.15:10).

Paul deemed preaching the Gospel a great privilege (Eph.3:8). He saw himself as a debtor to both Jews and Gentiles – owing them the preaching of the Gospel. He was not ashamed of preaching the Gospel of Christ (Rom.1:14-16). He was willing to become all things to all men so that he could save some (1Cor.9:22).

Prayer Focus:

Tell God how much you desire to burn with passion for Him and to do exploits for Him. Ask Him to reveal Himself more to you.
