THE PERSPECTIVE AND VALUE SYSTEM OF CHRIST

Philippians 2:3-8 (GNB)

Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves… The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had: He always had the nature of God, but he did not think that by force he should try to remain equal with God. Instead … of his own free will he gave up all he had, and took the nature of a servant…. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

One of the negative attitudes that many people find themselves unconsciously adopting because of the wrong value systems of the world, is to think of themselves more than others and value themselves more than others. This is why real love is rare and there is so much pride and selfishness in the world. There is so much corruption and people keep trying to cheat others and lie to amass evil and illegal wealth for themselves, even at the cost of the lives of others. If Jesus had this mindset, we will not be saved today. We would have still been under the bondage and dominion of the devil. With this mindset, you will never find yourself making sacrifices for the sake of others and you will never be able to humble yourself and serve in any capacity that God wants you to. You are different from the people of the world, for you are a new creation in Christ. You have a different set of values and a different perspective to life. Your value system and perspective to life come from Jesus.

Jesus once said, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work,” (John 4:34). Serving and pleasing God was what brought Him His greatest satisfaction. Jesus said, “Those recognized as rulers of the people and those who are in top leadership positions rule oppressively over their subjects, but this is not the example you are to follow. You are to lead by a different model. If you want to be the greatest one, then live as one called to serve others. The path to promotion and prominence comes by having the heart of a bond-slave who serves everyone. For even the Son of Man did not come expecting to be served by everyone, but to serve everyone, and to give his life as the ransom price in exchange for the salvation of many.” (Mark 10:42-45, TPT).

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for making me a new creature in Christ. Help me to focus on Christ and adopt the perspective and value system of Christ.
