The Power of Accepting Your Glorious Identity

Genesis 17:4-5, 2 Corinthians 5:16-18a (TPT)
As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. *So then, from now on, we have a new perspective that refused to evaluate people merely by their outward appearance. …How, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new. …God has made all things new.

When God called Abraham, God told him to come out of his country and his father’s household. Afterwards, God changed his name. God changed Abraham’s identity to reflect his glorious purpose. The purpose that God had for Abraham’s life was bigger than what his natural lineage and identity could accomplish. It took faith for Abraham to accept the new name that God gave him and this was the beginning of him experiencing the supernatural power of God in his life. The meaning of his new name was ‘father of many nations’. But at that time, Abraham did not even have one child. In the line with Abraham’s purpose, God had promised him that he would have a child. Abraham believed God’s word to him and did not allow the physical condition of his or Sarah’s bodies to discourage him (Rom.4:18-21). In line with God’s word to him, Abraham and Sarah miraculously gave birth to Isaac (Gen.21:1-3).

When God called you in Christ, He gave you a new life and a new identity. Though your physical body remained the same after you received Jesus into your life, the real you (your spirit) was completely changed. God no longer sees you nor describes you based on who you were before you became born again. God now sees and describes you based on what Jesus has done for you. For example, God now sees you and calls you a king and priest (Rev.5:10). God sees you and calls you holy and righteous (Heb.10:10 & 14, 2Cor.5:21). As you discover and accept by faith every new identity God has given you in Christ, God’s supernatural power will be activated in your life. You will experience the manifestation of God’s power and promises to you and you will fulfil God’s purpose for your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I believe and receive the new identity you have given me in Christ. Please open my eyes and reveal them more and more to me.
