Today’s Scripture
Psalm 94:13, AMPCThat You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity…
Today’s Word
You may have grown up with people who get upset easily and live offended. Why don’t you try a different approach? When you let people upset you, you’re giving away your power. You’re letting them control you. If they push your buttons, you get upset. Turn those buttons off. Life is so much more freeing when you’re not controlled by other people. Don’t get on board with your feelings. The psalmist says we’ll have adverse situations, but God has given us the power to remain calm. It doesn’t say God will keep all the adversity from us. Quit telling yourself, “I can’t help but get upset.” You have the power to remain calm. You don’t have to be offended by what they say—that’s a learned behavior. You have strength to not react, but it’s not under control. You have to relearn how you respond. The next time something happens that you don’t like, pause for a moment and say, “Father, thank You for the power to remain calm.” Change your approach.
Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for Your Word that says You have given me the power to keep calm in times of adversity. Help me relearn how to respond when someone pushes my buttons for a reaction. I declare that I will not let others control me any longer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
