THE POWER OF FINDING WHAT IS WRITTEN OF YOU (1)

Luke 24:25-27 (AMPC)

And [Jesus] said to them, O foolish ones […] and slow of heart to believe (…) everything that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary …that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer all these things before entering into His glory (…)? Then beginning with Moses and […] all the Prophets, He went on explaining and interpreting to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning and referring to Himself.

As Jesus was arrested and crucified, His disciples were thrown into a state of pandemonium. Two of His disciples were walking to Emmaus and Jesus joined them in their discussion without them knowing it was Him. He made them realise that everything that happened was already clearly stated in the scriptures and He showed them everything written about Him from Genesis to Malachi. Jesus knew all these things and where they were written, because He had studied them. Do you remember how he stayed back at the temple listening and asking questions? (Luke 2:46).

While the disciples were perplexed because of all that happened to Jesus, Jesus Himself was not moved because He knew what had been written of Him. When you know what has been written of you in the scriptures, you will not be thrown off balance when you go through terrible things. It’s like what happens in a movie. There may be a scene where things do not go so well for the protagonist, but he is not moved because he knows that somewhere in the script he is going to overcome and win in the end. Paul said “And we know that all things work together for good…” (Rom.8:28). He knew because He had found where it was written of him. Beloved, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him from them all,” (Psa.34:19).

Prayer:
Father, please open my eyes to things you have written about me in your word. May these things strengthen me for tough times
