THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION

Ephesians 1:18-20 (CEV), Philippians 3:10 (KJV, GNB)

My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will …know about the great and mighty power that God has for us followers. It is the same wonderful power he used when he raised Christ from death and let him sit at his right side in heaven. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection….All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection…

There are so many reasons why we rejoice in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Apart from the fact that it was by His death that Jesus destroyed the devil’s power over you (Heb.2:14), God included you in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, (Rom.6:1-7). This means that His death was your death, His burial was your burial and His resurrection was your resurrection. As you died with Christ, you died to sin and your old life and all its limitations. As you were raised with Christ, a new you was raised up by the glory and power of God. This new you is a saint and is just like Christ in every way. This new you has a whole new set of realities, potentials and possibilities.

One of the realities of this new you is that the great and mighty power of God is always available to you and is always at work in your life. You must always remember that this new you is just like Christ in every way. The same anointing that is in Christ is in you. That is why He sent you into the world just as the Father sent Him, (John 17:18, John 20:21) and He said you will do the works He did and even greater works, (John 14:12). The power of God at work in you is the same great and mighty power God used to raise Christ from the dead. Like Paul prayed in our texts above, all we need is for our eyes to be opened so we can be more conscious of this mighty power at work in us.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for raising me up with Christ and I thank you for the power of Christ’s resurrection at work in me.
