THE POWER TO PREACH THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST

Acts 1:6-8 (LB)

…they asked him, “Lord, are you going to free Israel from Rome now and restore us as an independent nation?” “The Father sets those dates,” he replied, “and they are not for you to know. But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power to testify about me with great effect, to the people in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth…

One of the greatest privileges we have as God’s children is the opportunity to preach the Gospel of Christ. Every time we are preaching the Gospel, we are partnering with God to transform and bless lives and advance His kingdom on earth.

The Gospel of Christ is the power of God that makes people experience God’s saving and miraculous power, (Rom.1:16). As people hear the Gospel of Christ, the faith of God fills their hearts and they experience the operations of the Spirit and the power of God, (Gal.3:5). Their eyes are opened, they are turned from darkness to light, from the power of the devil to God, they receive forgiveness of their sins and their inheritance in God, (Acts 26:18).

The Gospel is not mere words, it is the power of God and we need the power of God to preach it. We receive this power to preach the Gospel from the Spirit of God. We don’t preach the Gospel with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but by the power of the Spirit of God, (1Cor.2:4). Apostle Paul said, “When we told you the good news, it was with the power and assurance that come from the Holy Spirit, and not simply with words…” (1Thes.1:5a). The Holy Spirit gives us boldness, convicts the hearts of those listening and does miracles as we preach.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the privilege to preach the Gospel of Christ and I thank you for empowering me by your Spirit to preach.
