THE PRAYER OF FAITH (1)

James 5:13-15

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

As children of God, our victory in every area of our lives is guaranteed because of our faith in God, (1John 5:4). This is why we must always live and do all we do by faith and not by our sight, or senses, or our feelings, or because everybody is saying or doing it (2Cor.5:7). As children of God, our faith comes from God as we hear His word (the Gospel/ revelation of Christ) – Rom.10:13-17. Jesus is the word of God, (John 1:1 & 14). The prayer of faith is therefore prayer that is based on the word of God/revelation of Christ. God wants you to pray based on what He has said about you in Christ, on who He says you are, what He says you have, where He says you are and what He says you can do because of Christ.

Your faith as you pray must always be based on Christ alone. Don’t put faith in anything about yourself or anyone else, but Christ. And don’t put your faith in your prayers. Put your faith in Christ and in God’s great love for you. He is your Father and because of His great love for you, He wants to grant you what you are asking for. Jesus said, “If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what’s best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask him?” Matt.7:11 (TPT).

Action Point:
With eyes fixed on all Jesus has done for you and God’s great love for you, pray to God about that desire on your heart.
