THE PROMISE IS NOW OUR REALITY

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

2 Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)

In Christ, we live a joyful confident expectation that things will work out in our favour. No matter what you are experiencing, it will turn out well. All things work together for good. Nothing works against you. That is why you will not die of sickness. Armed robbers will not kill you. Kidnappers will not terminate your life. You will not be stranded in life! You will not see shame. And you will not be humiliated because Christ is in you. Because Christ is in you, what was a promise in the Old Testament is now your reality.

In the book of Exodus 19:5-6, God said: “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation…” (Exodus 19:5-6 KJV)

You shall be a holy nation. Future tense! In other words, it has not happened. But in the New Testament, what was a promise to them has become our reality. “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling …;” (Hebrews 3:1 KJV) “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1 Peter 2:9 KJV)

Under the Old Testament, the promised blessing was conditional. It was not definite! “And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.” (Deuteronomy 28:2 KJV). In other words, if you refuse to harken, you will not be blessed, If you fail to harken you will not be blessed.

Let’s look at our reality in the New Testament. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” (Ephesians 1:3 KJV). He no longer waits for us to hearken to bless us, simply because of what Jesus did on our behalf.
