THE PURPOSE OF OUR FAITH IN CHRIST

1Timothy 6:12, 2Corinthians 5:7, 1Peter 1:8-9 (GNB)

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. *(For we walk by faith, not by sight.) *You love him, although you have not seen him, and you believe in him, although you do not now see him. So you rejoice with a great and glorious joy which words cannot express, because you are receiving the salvation of your souls, which is the purpose of your faith in him.

By our faith in Christ, we can experience physical manifestations and receive material things from God. However, our faith in Christ is not just for us to experience or receive material things from God. It is way more powerful than that. The main purpose of our faith in Christ is for us to lay hold or take full possession of eternal life. Eternal life is the same Life that is in Christ. God Himself testifies that this life that is in Christ is also in us, (1John 5:11). Jesus once said that Eternal Life is to know God, (John 17:3). To know God here does not mean to have a head knowledge or awareness of God, it means to have an intimate relationship and fellowship with God through Christ so we can experience His life.

We live by our faith in Christ. The faith of Christ helps us to experience what Christ would experience and manifest if He were in our day and in our shoes. It is only by the faith of Christ that we can lay hold on the fullness of the Life of Christ and walk in it. Our faith in Christ helps us align ourselves with God. Our faith in Christ helps us connect with our realities in God and experience them. It honours and pleases God and it gives us boldness and access to God the Father, (Eph.3:12). We must always remember that God’s greatest desire for us is for us to be conformed to the image of Christ, (Rom.8:29). God does not just want us to come to Him; He wants us to be like Him.

Just like Jesus, by our faith in Him, we can preach the gospel and manifest God’s life and power to help others experience this life of God also. Guard and build your faith in Christ continually.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I desire to lay hold and walk in the fullness of the life of Christ you have given me. May I continue to grow in my faith in Christ.
