THE RIGHT WAY TO RESPOND TO GOD’S GOODNESS AND BLESSINGS

LUKE 5:5-6, 8a-9, 11 (GNB) “Master,” …, “we worked hard all night…and caught nothing. But if you say so, I will let down the nets.” They let them down and caught such a large number of fish that the nets were about to break. When Simon Peter saw what had happened, he fell on his knees before Jesus….He and the others with him were all amazed ….They pulled the boats up on the beach, left everything, and followed Jesus.

One thing we must continually do as we experience God’s goodness and blessings is to sincerely appreciate, acknowledge, praise, worship and thank God for His goodness and blessings in our lives. Never make the mistake to think that it was by your power or might or any connections, abilities or qualifications that you have. Always ascribe all the honour and the glory to God. Never take the goodness and the blessing of God lightly or for granted. Meditate and reflect on what God has done for you until you come to a deeper understanding and conviction of God’s nature, love and goodness. Doing this also builds your faith, (Matt.16:9, 1 Sam.17:37). Another thing to do is testify about God’s love and goodness. Tell people what God has done for you so they can praise and worship God for His goodness. Your testimony can help to strengthen the faith and increase the joy of others.

It is also important to yield yourselves more to God. Don’t let the goodness and blessings of God make you turn your focus and attention from God to those things or to anyone else. After all God did for Solomon, Solomon’s heart was turned away from God, (1 Kings 11:4). The greatest thing God wants from you is your heart and focus on Him. After the great catch of fish, Peter and those with him left all and followed Jesus. Love God more and surrender to Him more.

PRAYER:

LORD, I GIVE YOU ALL THE GLORY FOR ALL YOUR GOODNESS AND KINDNESS TO ME. HELP ME TESTIFY OF YOUR GOODNESS. I YIELD MYSELF TO YOU
