But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.— Matthew 7:14 (AMP)
The word narrow means “of little breadth; not wide or broad; having little distance from side to side.”
If you want to reach any worthy goal at all or do anything significant for God, you will find you always have to go through a narrow place. Anytime God leads you toward a broader place—a position of greater influence, greater enjoyment in life, or a fulfilled desire—you will have to squeeze through a narrow place to get there.
Your narrow place may be a time when you have to walk away from negative relationships, when you have to discipline your mouth to speak positively instead of complaining, or choosing to work while others are entertaining themselves.
These kinds of disciplines will squeeze you and press you, but they will also lead you to the broad places and blessings God has for you.
Prayer Starter: Father, help me to stay on the “narrow” path today, obeying Your Word, keeping the right attitude and doing what I know is right. You see everything, and I know my reward will come from You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
