The Role Model Woman-Part 1
Dear Reader,
Happy new year! I pray that new things shall be the order of the day in your life this year, in Jesus’ name. This month, we will focus on The Role Model Woman.
Who is a Role Model? According to the dictionary, a role model is a person whose behaviour, example or success can be emulated by others, especially by younger people. The Word says: Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies (Proverbs 31:10). Most people have role models, and the reason for choosing such people varies but the idea behind it is usually the same. A good role model is someone we want to be like and strive to mimic because we see value in their actions. One distinctive quality of a role model is that they possess the ability to convey moral and spiritual values for an individual to emulate. Therefore, a role model should stimulate a person to reach beyond self and become the best version of themselves.
However, women are ordained great role models to others, especially the younger generation. God has fashioned the woman to be the first nurturer of great destinies (humans) he positioned on the earth. As a woman, you are created to beautify God’s creation. A wise woman once said, ‘Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform’.
You have both inner and outward beauty that when expressed gives value and colour to the earth. The Word says: But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price (1 Peter 3:4). An African proverb says, ‘If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation’. So, you have immersed power as a woman to be a world changer and positive influence because you are an educationist and educated. However, being a role model does not just happen because you are a woman; you must possess certain distinctive qualities that others would admire and aspire to emulate.
Let us examine one major qualities of a godly role model:
- Be Spiritual. The Word says: …but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6). Spirituality is the foundation of every lasting impact. You cannot be more impactful as a godly model than the level of your spirituality. Today, most people are exposed to models that appeal to appearance or fast fading popularity and ignore the Christian and moral implications of womanhood. As a woman, how often do you pray or study the Word? The Holy Spirit should be your closest companion, inspiring you to be and make a difference. There is always time for anything you are passionate about; create time to build your spiritual muscles. You cannot give what you do not have. When you give from the richness of your spirit man, you give life (John 6:63). Commit yourself to actively choosing God and His ways in your decisions, words, thoughts and responses as Mary did. The Word says: And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her (Luke 10:41-42)
Many women in the world have chosen the broad path, which leads to destruction, but the narrow path, which leads to life everlasting, is what you need to make a difference on earth and spend eternity with Christ. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
