The Secret of the Faith of Moses

Hebrews 11:24-27 (NLT)
It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward. It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.

Jesus was the secret of the faith of Moses. In the time that his mother was in charge of raising him for Pharaoh’s daughter, Moses’ mother must have taught him to know God. As part of Moses’ encounter with God, God revealed a dimension of Christ and His plan of redemption to Moses (Exo.2:1-10). Moses even told the Israelites about the coming of Christ. When Moses said to the children of Israel, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him,” in Deuteronomy 18:15 (NIV), he was referring to Christ (Acts 3:22). When God told Moses and the children of Israel to slay a lamb and put the blood in their lintels (Exo.12), God was revealing to them a picture of Christ’s redemptive work (1Cor.5:7).

It was this revelation of Christ and God’s redemptive plan that changed Moses’ life and empowered him to begin his journey of following God and fulfilling God’s purpose for his life. The first thing is revelation did to Moses was that ir changed his identity. It made him value identifying with God and God’s people more than identifying with king Pharaoh and all the pleasures of being a member of the royal family. He was willing to identity with Christ and God’s redemptive plan, no matter how difficult it would have seemed to his flesh. He did si because he comprehended the glory of God’s blessings and reward that accompany obeying God and carrying out God’s will. Moses became more conscious of God that he couldn’t see physically than of king Pharaoh that he could see physically. As God opens your eyes to the revelation of Christ, the glory of Christ will change and empower you to love God, serve Him and fulfil His purpose for your life.

Prayer Focus:
Heavenly Father, I ask that you open my eyes to the revelation of Christ. I desire to know you, serve you and fulfil your purpose for my life.
