THE SUPERIOR TYPE AND SOURCE OF OUR FAITH

EPHESIANS 2:8 (LB), ROMANS 10:1 5b, 17 (LB)

Because of his kindness, you have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God. …“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace with God and bring glad tidings of good things.”…how welcome are those who come preaching God’s Good News ! Yet faith comes from listening to this good news —- the Good News about Christ.

The faith we have as believers in Christ is not an ordinary faith or belief that the people of the world can have. The faith we have is supernatural. It is the faith of God and it comes from God. When Jesus said, “Have faith in God ” in Mark 11:22, what He literally said was, “Have faith of God”, as shown in the literal translation of the Bible (LITV). Jesus was saying to have thesame faith that is in God.

How then do we have the faith of God? The only way we can have this faith in God is by receiving it from God. We cannot conjure , muster or manufacture it on our own. As our second text above shows, this faith comes to us from God and fills our hearts as we receive the Gospel of Christ. As we receive the Gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed to us and we move from faith to faith, (Rom. 1:16-17).

The fact that our faith comes from God does not mean that we no longer need to build it up and exercise it. No. Build and exercise your faith, but continue to acknowledge that your faith is not ordinary but supernatural — for it comes from God. We must not boast about our faith, but continually give praise to God for granting us such faith by which we live supernatural lives , (Rom. 1:17), please Him (HEB. 11:6), do exploits and receive things/promises from God, (HEB. 11:11,33).

PRAYER:
Father, I thank you for the supernatural faith you ‘ve given me by the Gospel of Christ. Help me to keep building and exercising it.
