THE SUPERNATURAL IS NOT FOR SALE

Acts 8:19-21

And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ….thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

The Simon our text above talks about, was a magician who had great influence upon the people of Samaria, displaying much power. After God used Philip to preach Christ in Samaria, Simon believed and was saved. When Peter and John came to Samaria and Simon saw that the Holy Ghost came upon people as they laid hands of them, he offered them money to receive that power to lay hands on people. When Peter heard this, Peter rebuked him sharply.

The supernatural is not for sale. You don’t pay or give money for you to receive and operate in the gifts of the Spirit or the power of God. They are called gifts because they are free. Jesus has paid for them and by our faith in Him, God has given them to us freely, (Eph.4:7-8, Rom.8:32, 2Pet.1:3). Now, just as we do not give money for the gifts of the Spirit and power of God, we must not see the manifestation of the gifts and power of the Spirit as a tool for exploiting or getting money from people. Jesus said “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give,” (Matt.10:8). Do not allow greed make you fall into the error of Balaam, (Jude 1:11). Don’t be covetous and don’t see the things of God as a short cut for you to acquire selfish gain. Be content, (1Tim.6:5-6). Godliness with contentment is great gain. Don’t make your belly (appetite) your God, (Phil.3:18-19).

Faith Declaration:
God has given me the gifts of the Spirit free of charge and I manifest the gifts of the Spirit free of charge to bless lives.
