THE TRUE LOVE NATURE

“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;”

-EPHESIANS 4:2-

The relationship between Christ and the Church is synonymous with that of the husband and the wife. Just as Christ took the responsibility of purging the Church of sin with His blood, the husband also has the responsibility to keep washing his wife until every spot and wrinkle is out.

As it is popularly said, marriage is a place where we learn and get to practice what we have learned. So, understand that just as you are learning, your wife also is in the school of marriage. It is your duty to help her through it, by teaching her ways in which you both can be satisfied in your marriage, without being angry or resentful of each other.

You don’t have to be too touchy when your wife makes a mistake. Remember, she is only human and whatever mistake you think she is making, she might be doing that in her bid to want to please you. That is why you must correct in love. Jesus never sends us out of the Church when we make mistakes; instead, He longs to draw us closer so we don’t get further away. Similarly, don’t evict your wife from your home, because of a misunderstanding.

More so, even when Christ chastises us for any wrong done, He still does not withhold His blessing from us, because the Bible says His gifts and callings are without repentance. So, you don’t have to stop providing for your home, buying gifts for her, or performing your duties as a husband because you feel offended by your wife. First things first, talk with her and work on sorting it out. God’s love is unconditional and so should yours.

As a man you were created in the likeness of God, so your love and attitude towards others, especially your wife, should be after the similitude of God. You will not fail God in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
