THE WORK OF CHRIST IS COMPLETE AND PERFECT

Hebrews 10:10-12, 18 (LB)

Under this new plan we have been forgiven and made clean by Christ’s dying for us once and for all. Under the old agreement the priests stood before the altar day after day offering sacrifices that could never take away our sins. But Christ gave himself to God for our sins as one sacrifice for all time and then sat down in the place of highest honor at God’s right hand, *Now, when sins have once been forever forgiven and forgotten, there is no need to offer more sacrifices to get rid of them.

In the Old Testament, there was no chair in the tabernacle because their work never finished. The priest stood daily, offering sacrifices. Sacrifices which were not perfect and which could never make them perfect. But our own, High Priest offered a once and for all perfect sacrifice and then He sat down. His complete and perfect
sacrifice completed and perfected us. Christ’s work of redemption for us is superior to what they had in the Old Testament and it exceeds in glory! There are two ways to view the complete and perfect work of Christ. First is to receive the total forgiveness of all your sins and the second is to realize that it is only by believing and accepting what Christ has done that we can be completely free from sin.

All our sins have been forever forgiven and forgotten by God. In the Old Testament, their yearly sacrifices brought about a reminder of sins. The best that the blood of bulls and goats could do was to cover their sins for a year. But Jesus’ single sacrifice did not cover sins, it completely took them away forever! This is why everyone who has believed in Jesus does not have any record of sin in the sight of God. God has forgiven us because of Jesus and not because we say we are sorry or because we ask for forgiveness. What we do is to receive forgiveness (Eph.1:7, Acts 26:18). Also, the only way to overcome the power of sin in our lives is to accept the complete and perfect work of Christ. We have been made clean or perfect and there is no other sacrifice to get rid of sin. What Jesus did has made us free from sin. God included us in the death of Jesus so we died with Him and we are now free from sin (Rom.6:2-4, 18, 20, 22). The part of you that was a sinner is dead forever. Believe and accept this!

Faith Declaration:
I believe in the complete and perfect sacrifice of Christ for me. All my sins are forgiven and I am completely free from the power of sin!
