Things the Lord Hates (2)

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Genesis 41-44

TEXT: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.” – Proverbs 6 :16 – 17.

MESSAGE: In continuation with our teaching which we started yesterday, the second thing the Lord hates is A LYING TONGUE. Lying tongues have caused so much pain to people in the body of Christ to the extent that the innocent are seen as the offenders while the offenders are seen as innocent and even applauded and rewarded. A lying tongue perverts judgment and makes the judge looks foolish when the truth is revealed.

A lying tongue is so deadly that it takes operating in the Spirit and hearing God to know it is not speaking the truth. Most times it takes the vindication of the Almighty to deliver the persons lied against because the lying tongue keeps telling more lies to cover the previous ones told. A lying tongue can make the ‘plaintiff’ ends up becoming the guilty. No wonder the psalmist cried out in Psalms 120 :2; “Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.” “Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.” Psa. 119:29.

Today, ‘believers’ are even hired and paid to tell lies against the righteous to bring them down. But thank God for the word of God to the righteous in Proverbs 3 :25 – 26; “Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.” A lying tongue is but for a moment (Prov. 12 :19) whatever is acquire via it does not last, it is bound to vanish like vapour. Scripture says, “The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.” Prov. 21 :6.

Child of God, lying lips are abomination to the LORD (Prov. 12 :22). Never give in to lies or permit it ground you. “A righteous man hateth lying (Prov. 13 :5), As His God does.
