Things the Lord Hates (3)
by Dr. (Mrs) Lizzy Johnson-Suleman
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Genesis 45-47
TEXT: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.” Proverbs 6 :16 – 17.
MESSAGE: The third thing the LORD hates are HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD. That was why despite God’s love for David, the death of Uriah was a stigma on his destiny. God kept making reference to it with a ‘but’ on his great personality even after his death.
In 1 Kings 15 :3 – 5; scripture reports of King Abijam who walked in all the sins of his father Rehoboam and not in the ways of his father David with a good heart, but for David’s sake did the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem: “Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.” The Uriah thing still came up. And that was the major reason why God did not allow him to build him a house but chose his son Solomon to do so.
David said in 1 Chron. 28 :3 ; ” But God said unto me, thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of War, and hast shed blood.” All he could do was to provide all that was needed to build because of his affection for God.
Child of God, never you in your life she’d or partake in the shedding of a man’s blood, how much more the blood of the innocent; God hates it. After the destruction of the earth with flood in Genesis 9 :5 – 6; God said to Noah and his sons, “And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every man’s beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.” Shedding of the blood makes one’s hand unclean and hinders one from ascending into the hill of the LORD. Psalms 24 :3 – 4.
I pray for you, you will not be an enemy of God.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I separate my life and all my interest from shedding of innocent blood, in Jesus name.
