Things the Lord Hates (7)

BIBLE READING: Exodus 9-12
TEXT: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” Proverbs 6 :16 & 19.
Finally, we shall bring to end our series on ‘Things the LORD Hates’ as we look into the seventh thing which is ‘HE THAT SOWETH DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN.
One major thing the devil targets among believers and the body of Christ as a whole is it’s unity because he knows if there is agreement or oneness among them, his mission in their midst is frustrated. What then does he do?
He puts his agents in their midst and they possess carnally minded believers who go about sowing discord among brethren. That is why whoever operates in such a ministry is an enemy of the church, an abomination to the LORD. Jesus speaking, “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” Matt. 18 :19.

What a great privilege given to believers! But how can they maximize it when there is disagreement and strife because of the that soweth discord among brethren? And Amos 3 :3; says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolatuin; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.” Matt. 12 :25.
God hates he that soweth discord among brethren because the place of unity is so very important to the church of God. Psalms 133 :1 & 3; says, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!… for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” The so many unanswered prayers among brethren despite their joining hands together, has its root in lack of agreement/disunity. You can imagine the force of unity applied in the building of the tower of Babel in Genesis 11
It is therefore time to uphold unity and give utmost attention to it.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, whoever is sowing discord between me and my brethren, I expose and disgrace you by fire.
