TIPS TO BUILDING YOUR HOME (2)

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching. I believe you were impacted by the previous teaching. Last week, I examined an important tool required in building your home. This week, I will be unveiling three more tools.

These tools include:

  • Understanding. This is the interpretation of the knowledge you have received. The Word says: …and by understanding it is established: Wisdom is the principal thing… (Proverbs 4:7; 24:3). With all the wisdom you are getting, ensure you get understanding. So, understanding is a most important virtue. It is what helps you keep your cool in matters that should make you lose your temper with your spouse, and it helps restrain yourself. Anytime I am privileged to counsel, I always tell couples, married or courting, especially those who feel they must always say what is on their minds, to practice self-restraint. The Word says: He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit (Proverbs 17:27).
  • Knowledge. Knowledge is power! It is a vital tool to build a solid home, we must go after it. The Word says: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches (Proverbs 24:4). This is required to build a crisis-free home. One of the major problems with our generation today is that nobody wants to go after knowledge anymore; everybody feels they already know what to do. Please note that no matter how long you have been married, you have not arrived. So, do not deceive yourself! So, gather knowledge as this will help you handle your home.
  • Prayer. A life of prayer is an asset and a weapon for building the home. Prayer is the key and should not be undermined. No wonder we are told in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to pray without ceasing. Jesus also said: Men ought always to pray and not to faint (Luke 18:1). If you faint, you have allowed the devil come into your home. Therefore, you must be spiritually alert if you want to build a solid home; you must pray fervently for your home to keep standing strong. So, no matter how difficult the situation may be, go to God in prayer. Instead of spending time trying to make a point, let God handle the case on your behalf.

These tools are required and must be built upon daily to experience the best of God. However, we must understand that God is the ultimate builder, and He would not do it without your willingness to work with Him (Hebrews 3:4). If you need wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, go to Him. Also, engage His Word to frame your marriage and family. The Word says: The worlds were framed by the word of God (Hebrews 11:3). Your home is your world and can be framed by the Word. The enemy is on a home-destroying mission, and he means business. He is willing to do all it takes to discourage and intimidate you from enjoying your marriage and family. So, you must put up a fight as you engage these tips.

Importantly, to experience a crisis-free home and family life, you must be born again. If you are not, this is the best time to do so. Please say this prayer of faith: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Now, I know I am born again!
