The Lord is my Strength and my [impenetrable] Shield; my heart trusts in, relies on, and confidently leans on Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him.— Psalm 28:7 (AMPC)
When we’re overwhelmed with responsibilities that we can’t change yet, what can we do to get everything done and not get frustrated in the process?
Jesus said that if we’re weary and overburdened we should come to Him, because He has the rest we need (see Matthew 11:28). When we’re busy, we often think we don’t have time for prayer or studying God’s Word, but that’s exactly when it’s most important to make the time to do it. I heard one man say that he had more to do than ever, so he was going to pray an extra hour a day. When asked how he could find time to do that with all he had to do, he replied, “That is the only way I will ever get it done. I am too busy not to pray!”
I’ve learned that when I lean on God and take things one day at a time, He’ll help me get through my commitments and help me arrange my life better in the future. The grace we need is always there when we need it, not before we need it. You might look at all you’re facing over the next few weeks and feel overwhelmed, but if you’ll take even a few minutes to pray and invite God into each day, He’ll be there to help you, love you and guide you through every single thing you need to do (see Psalm 145:18; Matthew 7:7; James 1:5).
Prayer Starter: Father, please help me get through all the things on my plate today. I want to do it without frustration, but I can’t do it without You. Thank You for the grace to accomplish what I need to do, and for giving me the wisdom I need as I make decisions! In Jesus’ name, amen.
