READ: 1 Timothy 1:1-20

Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles” – 1 Timothy 1:18, New Living Translation

Listen to messages because Paul asked Timothy to listen to his messages and repeat them. Read it for yourself: “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:1-2).

I encourage pastors to listen to messages in order to catch the anointing. Notice how the Holy Spirit fell on people who were listening to Peter preaching (Acts 10:44).

I encourage pastors to listen to messages because there are different callings. The apostle will hear directly from God but the pastors under the apostle may receive a lot of direction through the apostle. Read it for yourself. It is all over the Bible. Paul described himself as an apostle who had seen Jesus Christ. These are heavyweight credentials.

“Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are not ye my work in the Lord?” (1 Corinthians 9:1).

He gave a lot of instructions to Timothy and Titus. He even asked them to read his letters and books to the congregation. Even though Titus and Timothy had the Holy Spirit, Paul told them many things to say and to do.
