Memorise: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

Bible Reading: Genesis 3:4-5

  1. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
  2. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Bible Reading In One Year: 2 Chronicles 26-28, John 17:1-26

MESSAGE:

Dependency is one of the tenets of Christianity. As a Christian, you must depend on God like a baby depends on his/her parents and let Him do things for you. То any rational mind, this is a hard pill to swallow because we have been trained to be independent. Being independent is a great virtue, but we must never count God as part of those we can be independent of.

No one can be independent of God and be what he or she was originally designed to be. The sin Adam and Eve committed in the Garden of Eden was not just the sin of disobedience; it was a drift towards independence from God.

The devil told them to eat the fruit and ye shall be gods. In other words, Satan was telling them that they would discover that they are gods like God and don’t need to continue taking orders from Him. That was unfortunately the undoing of mankind. Thank God for Jesus. I do not oppose independence, but I am saying that no one can afford not to have God rule over them. The day you decide to do without God, it means you have signed your death warrant. You need God at every point in your life!. Do all you can every day to maintain an intimate relationship with Him.

Key Point:

If you depend on God, dependency on man will be unnecessary.

HYMN:

  1. When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way,
While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away,
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay,
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
    For the favour He shows,
    And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
