VERILY, VERILY (2)

John 16:23-24, John 14:13-14

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. *And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Another great assurance that Jesus offered us is that whatever we ask of God the Father in His name, He will perform. In our first text, Jesus told His disciples that they had never asked the Father anything in His name before. He then urged them to pray to God in His name, because doing so would bring them answers and fill them with joy. What Jesus meant was that His disciples had been praying before that time, but not in His name or under His authority. To pray in the name of Jesus is to pray in the authority of Jesus, not only with his name. It is to pray as if it is Jesus that is praying.

Therefore, start praying as if it is Christ that is praying. Pray today and for the rest of this year with this confidence and assurance. You shall have great testimonies. Pray with the boldness and confidence of Christ and expect the same response that He will expect.

Also, stop thinking that somebody has to pray for you for God to answer you. Jesus told His disciples, that even He would not need to pray for them, for God loves them because they believe in Him, (John 16:26-27). Because of your faith in Jesus, God will always respond to you the same way He will respond to Jesus.

Action Point:
Pray to God, the Father in the authority of Jesus, concerning every desire in your heart.
