Vision and Passion for God’s Great Harvest

Luke 10:2-3, (NKJV), Matthew 9:36-38(NKJV)

Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no Shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “the harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.”

My husband, Archbishop Benson Idahosa, is one man I know whose life perfectly reflected what it means to have a vision and passion for God’s great harvest. Right from the moment he got saved, the passion to see souls saved and touched by God’s miraculous power was like food, water and air to him. He was passionate about knowing Christ, preaching Christ alone and manifesting the power of God with great faith and boldness.

The Lord once gave him a vision where he saw himself standing underneath a tree that was dry and had no leaves. In the vision, the Lord instructed him to help people who where passing by carrying their loads and heavy burdens. As people pass by, he helped carry their loads and they came to rest under the tree after a while they were many people under the tree and the tree bore many leaves there was a point that he became very exhausted and the Lord told him to look among the people under the tree. From them, he was to secure some young people to join him in helping more people take down their loads and burdens. After a while, a lot more people were helped and the tree became very full of vibrant leaves. The Lord then told him that what he had experienced was what He (God) would do through his life. That is as he helped people unburden their loads at God’s feet, God will bring to life that which was dead and he would stand before great multitudes to declare God’s power to heal and perform miracles.
Indeed, this became the testimony of his life.

The same passion that drove Christ to the cross drove him to the lost. I am glad that this same vision and passion for God’s great harvest burns on the inside of me and I pray that it will burn on the inside of you as well.

Prayer Focus:
Ask God to fill your heart with a great vision and passion for His great harvest. Pray the same for other believers too. Ask God to use us mightily.
