VISIONS IN THE VALLEY

9th July 2023

Scripture Reading: PSALMS 23: 1-6

Focus

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

Whilst the psalmist walked through the valley of the shadow of death, he declared that he fears no evil; the psalmist also made mention of the rod and staff of his Shepherd. There was no mention of the rod and staff of the Shepherd in the mountain or beside the still waters. The moment he got to the valley of the shadow of death, in the midst of predators and marauders, his eyes were opened to see the rod and the staff of the Shepherd.

Friend, for every valley the Lord brings you to, turn it to your place of revelation. Let your eyes be opened to see new things as you pass through your valley experience. Let your eyes be open to see new revelations as you wade through the stormy waters of life. Let the challenges that come your way be an occasion for a new thinking. Let the conspiracies of men against you open the floodgates of divine revelation in you.

What the psalmist did not see in the Shepherd whilst on the mountain and beside still waters, he saw it whilst in the valley. You may not have seen certain dimensions of God in the mountains, but you will see it in your low moments. You may not have seen how much God can provide for you or defend you, you may not have seen how much capacity that is in you, you may not have seen certain wonders, but you will see them in the valley.

Never allow your valley experience to be all about what the devil did. Never allow your valley to glorify the enemy. Instead of focusing on what the enemy has done in the valley or how he is trying to keep you in the valley, focus on the new things that God will have you see in your valley moments. Focus on the divine revelations that are meant to come your way in the valley. Focus on what God would have you see in the valley.

Don’t be counted amongst those who went down the valley but only came forth with tales of predators and marauders. Let your eyes be opened whilst in the valley.

Declaration

When I go through the valley, my eyes will be open to see new things, in Jesus’ name!
