VITAL ATTITUDES FOR PRESSING FORWARD

Psalms 25:9 (KJV, GNB), Proverbs 2:2-4 (GNB), Proverbs 24:5

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. *He leads the humble in the right way and teaches them his will. *Listen to what is wise and try to understand it. Yes, beg for knowledge; plead for insight. Look for it as hard as you would for silver or some hidden treasure. *A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

It is not enough for you to say with your mouth how much you desire to grow and increase in various areas of your life. You have to show it with your attitude. Two vital attitudes you must have are: (1) remaining humble and (2) being passionate about getting and applying wisdom and knowledge to your life.

Remaining humble will make you continue doing what you need to do to grow and remain consistent. It will also make you willing to receive God’s word (James 1:21) or learn and make necessary adjustments to become better. The Bible shows us that God gives grace to the humble (Jam. 4:6) and as you humble yourself under God’s mighty hand, He will exalt you in due time, (1Pet.5:6).

A major tool God uses to lift us up and make us grow is wisdom and knowledge. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her,” (Prov.4:7-8). My husband, Archbishop Benson Idahosa used to say, “When you stop learning, you start dying”. Pray and ask God for wisdom, then search, study, listen and learn in line with the areas you want to grow and press forward. Practise what you learn too.

Prayer Focus:
Tell God that you are willing to learn and ask Him to fill you with wisdom in every area you desire to grow and move forward.
