WALKING IN LOVE BY THE HELP OF THE SPIRIT

Galatians 5:16& 22a (NIV, LB)

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. But the fruit of the Spirit is love…I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won’t always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants you to. *But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love,

Jesus wants us to love one another the same way that He loves us, (John 13:34). The only way that we can do this is by the help of the Spirit. We need the Holy Spirit to understand how much Jesus loves us and we need Him to also help us love just the same way. It is the Holy Spirit that spreads the love of God in our hearts, (Rom.5:5).

As believers, we already have God’s nature of love in us, but we need it to grow and bear more fruit (find more expression in our lives). This can only happen as we yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We must acknowledge that we have the seed of God’s nature of love in us, which gives us the ability to love others as God does, and we must be deliberate about allowing the Holy Spirit to inspire, strengthen and direct us on how to express God’s nature of love to others and in various situations.

Do not be too quick to respond from the impulses of the flesh or your human wisdom. Always yield to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to inspire, strengthen and lead you on how to express or manifest God’s love in that situation. In every situation you find yourself, always remember that God is at work in you (by His Spirit), making you willing and able to do His good will, which is to walk in His love, (Phil.2:13).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for empowering me by your Spirit, to express your love to others and in every situation.
