WATCH THAT TONGUE

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.”

-JAMES 3:13-

Women are naturally vocal beings. We were created with the ability to express ourselves in words, and we tend to do this more with those we are closest to. That explains why we tend to hurt those we are closest to more than casual friends.

However, we must know that we can either choose to edify or destroy with our words; it is never neutral. This is why you must train yourself, with constant practice, on speaking right words at all times, especially to those closest to you.

I am sure you would have heard people say “This or that woman does not know how to talk.” She does not have to be dumb physically, but she might just be careless with her words. In marriage and in all life dealings, if there is anything you must learn how to use, it is your tongue.

Some people have lost their marriage as a result of careless words. They said things they didn’t mean, and those words worked against them. Some have even made “ordinary” statements which have ended up being a fulfilled negative prophecy in their marriage. Your tongue is powerful; it can build and it can destroy. However, the good news is that you can control it through conscious exercise of watching what, when, and how you use your words.

Someone once shared a tip on how she controlled her tongue and this will help you also; if you follow it. Whenever you are tempted to speak, on whatever occasion, ask yourself what benefit those words would be. Be sure of its importance and look to the person it is intended for. What countenance will those words leave you and the recipient with, when said? If you can successfully analyse this, then you are on your way to speaking rightly. If your tongue would not stand against you in the day of battle, then you must use it rightly. Receive help in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remain Blessed!
