We Are Advantaged and Privileged in Christ
Romans 8:3-4 (TPT)
…God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature. Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit!
Many of us believers are yet to understand the kind of advantage we have in life and the privileged position we have been graciously given to occupy in God’s family. Jesus said of all born of women, John the Baptist was the greatest, but that even the least in the kingdom is greater than him (Matt.11:11). By our faith in Jesus, we have become new creatures, have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into God’s kingdom (Col.1:13). By virtue of our new life and the new position we occupy, we are greater than John the Baptist and every single man and woman that ever existed before him.
The underlying determinant of our greatness is Jesus. The people existed before John the Baptist knew about Jesus and many prophesied about Him. John the Baptist had the privilege to see and introduce Jesus to the world. Now, this Jesus suffered and died for us, took away our guilt, shame and the power of sin and by our faith in Him, we receive His life and He lives in us by His Spirit.
Unlike many who lived before John the Baptist, we are no longer trying in vain to be righteous before God by obeying the law. Rather, we have been made righteous by our faith in Christ and as we live by the leading of His life and Spirit in us, we live out the righteous life that was unattainable through the law to those in the Old Testament. We don’t need to struggle to offer animal sacrifices to temporarily cover our sins. God has offered Jesus to permanently take away our sins and free us from the power of sin. We are not trying to live the life of God; Jesus is living His life through us by His Spirit. Our flesh does not control us anymore. Our identity and everything about our lives flows from Christ.
Faith Declaration:
I am a new creature and a member of God’s kingdom and family. I am righteous. Christ is alive in me, manifesting the life of God.
