[And the Lord answered] Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.— Isaiah 49:15 (AMPC)
Isaiah 49:15 shows us that our heavenly Father wants us to come to Him as children. In this verse, the Lord uses the example of a nursing mother and how she tenderly cares for and has compassion on her child and their needs. Our heavenly Father wants us to know that we are His precious little ones—His children—and when we come to Him as such, we show that we trust Him, which releases His power to care for us.
God is not like unreliable, untrustworthy people—you can trust Him. If people in your past have hurt you, know that He’s not going to treat you that way. He will care for you as a loving father does, because He loves you.
When we don’t receive the care and love that we should in our childhood, it causes fears that were never in God’s plan for us. Parents are to be a mirror image in the physical realm of what our relationship with God is supposed to be like in the spiritual realm. When people are raised in dysfunctional homes, it usually causes problems in their relationship with the Lord, but it doesn’t have to stop them from having a healthy, close relationship with Him.
I pray that as you read these words and think about what I’m sharing, God will set you free to be a mature adult who can come to your heavenly Father in a childlike way. He loves you so much!
Prayer Starter: Father, please heal me where I’m broken inside, and teach me how to come to You as my heavenly Father. Thank You for seeing and caring for me as Your child. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
