WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER MOST?

Isaiah 43:18-19, Isaiah 46:9 (NLT), 1Corinthians 11:24-25

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth… *“Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me.” *And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

God is interested about what you keep in your memory. What you remember can either strengthen or weaken your faith. God specifically asked the Israelites to do certain things as a memorial or something that will make them remember the things He had done for them. From setting up altars, to celebrating certain feasts, to the items that were put into the ark. One of the things that strengthened David’s faith when he stood before Goliath was that he remembered how God delivered him from the lion and the bear. Lamentations 3:21-24 says, “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.”

There are things God wants you to forget and things God wants you to remember. God wants you to forget all your mistakes and failures of the past, all the evil the devil has done and all the negative things people may have done to you. God wants you to remember His faithfulness, His mercies, His love and His goodness towards you. God wants you to remember what He remembers about you. God remembers His promises/ covenant He made with Christ for you and all He has done in Christ for you. Jesus said we should partake of the communion in remembrance of Him. Paul said as often as we do it we declare the Lord’s death. We are remembering and declaring all Jesus accomplished for us on the Cross. God does not remember our sins because Jesus has paid for them and wiped them away. Repenting is not about regretting, (Rev.2:5). It is about renewing your mind with the truth that you are righteous in Christ.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please help me to only remember your love, faithfulness and goodness towards me and all you have done for me in Christ.
