WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART?
2 Samuel 7:1-7 (MSG) …the king made himself at home and GOD gave him peace from all his enemies. Then…King David said to Nathan… “Look at this: Here I am, comfortable in a luxurious house of cedar, and the Chest of God sits in a plain tent.”Nathan told the king, “Whatever is on your heart, go and do it. GOD is with you.”But that night, the word of GOD came to Nathan saying, “Go and tell my servant David: … You’re going to build a ‘house’ for me to live in? Why, I haven’t lived in a ‘house’ from the time I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt till now.
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you succeed or achieve something great? Is it to please God and yield yourself more to Him? Or is it to enjoy yourself and indulge your flesh? After God granted David peace from all his enemies, the first thing that came to David’s mind was how he could build a temple for God’s ark to be kept. Even though God did not allow David to build this temple, God was so impressed by David’s desire to please Him that God made great promises and declarations to David and His entire generation, (2Sam.7:4-16).

Success has a way of revealing what is truly in the heart of people. In Luke 12:15-21, God called a man a fool because he saw his success as an opportunity to become proud, to boast of his strength and to enjoy
himself. God does not exist for our pleasure, we exist for His pleasure. He is God not us. Revelation 4:11 says God made all things for His pleasure. God desires to get more joy and pleasure from we who are His children.
As God continues to love you and grant you the desires of your heart, will you continue to love Him and desire to know and grant Him the desires of His heart? Does your heart really desire to please God and bring joy to his heart? Jesus was so passionate about pleasing God the Father that He said doing the Father’s will was His meat or that which gave Him His greatest satisfaction, (John 4:34). He was ready to fellowship with the Father, do the Father’s will and sacrifice His will and comfort just to please the Father. What is your meat? What is in your heart?
Prayer Focus:
Tell God how much you love Him and how much you desire to please Him and do His will. Ask Him to help you yield yourself more to Him.
