WHAT NAME WILL YOU CALL IT? (2)
Genesis 1:26 (AMPC) Genesis 2:19 (AMPC)
God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. *And out of the ground the Lord God formed every [wild] beast and living creature of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name.

Another reason why God brought the animals to Adam for him to name them, was because God had put him in charge of what happens on the earth, (Psa. 115:16).When you name something, you own it and you can exercise control and dominion over it. It is just like what happens when parents give birth to a child. They don’t ask the child what name to call him or her. Naming the child is part of their responsibility as parents and as the child grows up, it is the name they call the child that the child answers. If God brings a situation to you or if God allows you face it, it is because He has given you dominion over it. God has given that situation to you, so name it, own it and exercise authority and dominion over it.
God brought all the animals including wild animals to Adam for him to name them, because Adam had dominion over them. If Adam was afraid of them, he would not have been able to name them. While the other spies changed their own names to grasshoppers because they saw giants, Caleb changed the name of the giants to bread (Numb.14:9). Caleb knew that despite their physical size, the giants were like bread to God and because God was with them, they had dominion over the giants and the giants would be like bread to them too.
Beloved, Jesus has also restored us to the place of dominion over all things. He has given us His own dominion and authority. He has sent us into the world as the Father sent Him (John 20:21) and He wants us to do all that we do in His name/ authority, (Col.3:17). You have dominion over mountains. Jesus said you will speak to mountains and they will move and you shall have whatsoever you say, (Mark 11:23). Just like you tell a child to move and the child moves, you can tell a mountain to move and it will move because you have dominion over it.
Action Point:
Declare that you have dominion over every situation that comes your way. Begin to name situations and exercise dominion over them now.
