What Rock?

“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” – Matthew 16:18

Peter understood that Jesus was indeed the son of the living God when Jesus asked him, “who do you say that I am?” Jesus then goes on to say to him, “I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church…”

What rock?  Not Peter himself but on his profession of faith. Jesus said, “On that … I will build My church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.”

Over two thousand years later, this word continues to be true for you and for me.
