WHEN BELIEVERS PRAY

James 5:16-18 (LB)

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. Elijah was a human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for the next three and a half years! Then he prayed for rain, and down it poured. The grass turned green, and the crops began to grow again.

Our text above shows us how Elijah’s prayers affected an entire nation and its economy. We also see how great power and wonderful results are produced when a righteous person prays. Now, if the prayer of one righteous person can produce such great results and impact, what do you think will happen when two or more believers pray together? By the way, Jesus said the least in the kingdom is greater than John the Baptist and all who were born before him (Matt.11:11). This means that as believers in Christ, we occupy an even greater position than Elijah and as such, we can expect even greater results than Elijah did.

So much of God’s glory and power will manifest in our nation, ministry, organizations, homes and our lives as more of us decide to be more deliberate about joining faith with other believers in prayers. After James was killed, Herod arrested Peter but the church gathered and prayed for him. The fact that they were praying in the home of a believer did not limit the effect of their prayers. Just one angel of God was sent and Peter was miraculously released. It happened in such a way that Peter thought he was seeing a vision! In fact, the believers did not believe at first when Peter came knocking at their door (Acts 12:1-16). This is not the time to faint. This is the time to pray in faith.

Prayer Focus:
Pray in faith concerning that pressing issue on your heart and trust God for the release of His power on a large scale.
