WHEN EVIL COMES: SEEK THE LORD’S HELP
“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.” 2 Chronicles 20:3-4 (KJV)
You see, we always pray that God will deliver us from evil. One thing about evil is that it does not take your permission to come to your house. Evil is what we don’t pray for. If God does not deliver you from evil, no one will deliver you. You wake up in the morning hale and healthy, and suddenly the doctor is querying something that you don’t understand, and you are confronted with a very challenging health situation. That is evil! Evil is you reporting to the office as usual on a working day and finding out that millions have been stolen from the office account and your signature is on the cheque that transferred the money.
When evil knocks at your door, a problem that you will not expect will show up. There are people right now who are in jail, suffering from what they didn’t know about.
Evil knocked at the door of Jehoshaphat. But I love what he did. Instead of complaining about it, he ran to the house of God. The Bible says he was fearful. I know that some of you will say you have never been afraid in your life. But at times, fear comes before your faith. Fear will first hit you before your faith will kick in. Jehoshaphat was afraid, but fear drove him to God. He began to pray to God. He took his eyes away from the enemies that surrounded him and decided to set his eyes on God. And God showed up for him.
When you call upon the name of God, He will deliver you from evil. God will step into the arena and turn every battle in your favor. He will give you victory in every battle that you are facing. You will not be ashamed. No evil will knock at your door. No evil is allowed to come near you.
