Memorise: Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. Proverbs 22:5

Bible Reading: Luke 21:34-38

34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

Reading In One Year: Psalms 25-27; Acts 20:17-38

MESSAGE:

Opportunity will not always be available to you. A time comes in life when the curtain is drawn and the days of opportunities are over. Today, I want you to take cognizance of the fact that the gate will not always be left open.

God has a purpose for your life. You aren’t here on earth by chance, you a here for a particular purpose. The good thing about your age is that you are in the best stage to push yourself into recognizing what that purpose is and achieving it. The very unfortunate problem that I have found with some teenagers is that they are not aware of the fleetness of time, neither are aware of the purpose of this season they are in. Time waits for no man. It keeps moving past and can never comes back once it passes. Whatever you were supposed to use the past time to achieve would have to be squeezed into the slot of another time. More often than not, such things never get achieved. Dear child, life is not a joke, learn to make hay while the sun shines. Take out time to map out what you want to make out of this life and work towards achieving it. With this attitude, you will recognize opportunities when they come by and would be prepared to make best use of them.

Reflection:

What do you want out of life? Your actions or inactions will go a long way in determine if you will get it or not.

Hymn 13:

  1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining everyday;
    Still praying as I onward bound
    “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Chorus:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table-land;
Where love, and joy, and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

  1. My heart has no desire to stay
    Where doubts arise, and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell where these abound,
    My constant aim is higher ground.
  2. Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
    To rest beneath unclouded skies,
    Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
    By those who dwell on higher ground.
  3. I long to scale the utmost height,
    Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
    My song while climbing, shall resound
    Lord, lead me on to higher ground.
  4. Lord, lead me up the mountain side
    I dare not climb without my Guide;
    And, heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
    With grateful heart from higher ground.
