So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” So they picked up stones to throw at him….

One of my favorite authors is C. S. Lewis, who wrote the classic children’s series, The Chronicles of Narnia. What many don’t realize about Lewis is that he was introduced to Christ by J. R. R. Tolkien, famous for his series of books, The Lord of the Rings.

After his conversion to faith, Lewis wrote many books on Christianity. In his book, Mere Christianity, he articulated an idea many have dubbed the “trilemma.” Here’s what he wrote.

Either (Jesus) was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher.”

Jesus was either crazy for calling Himself God, was a liar, or truly was the Lord of life. You can’t be neutral about Jesus and admire Him. You have to deal with what He said about Himself.

Don’t sit on the fence when it comes to Jesus. Look at what He said about who He was, and pray God would confirm that in your heart.

JESUS CLAIMED TO BE GOD HIMSELF. SO DON’T JUST ADMIRE HIS TEACHING; WORSHIP HIM AS THE LORD OF LIFE!
