Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].— Proverbs 18:21 (AMPC)
Think about it for a moment—death and life are in the power of the tongue. Do you have any idea what that really means? It means you and I go through life with an awesome power—not unlike fire or electricity or nuclear energy—right under our noses. It is an energy source that can produce death or life, depending on how it is used.
With this power you have the capacity for great good or great evil, for great benefit or great harm. You can use it to create death and destruction, or you can use it to create life and health. You can speak forth sickness, disease, strife, and disaster, or you can speak forth healing, harmony, exhortation, and encouragement. Today, choose to speak life into every situation.
Prayer Starter: Father, please help me today to intentionally use my words for good, and to speak life into the people around me. Thank You for teaching me what to say in each moment. In Jesus’ name, amen.
