WORSHIPING THE FATHER THROUGH JESUS
Colossians 3:17 (GNB, AMPC), John 4:23a
Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father. And whatever you do […] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth…

We saw in our study yesterday, that God’s desire is for all men to worship Him as Father and we can only do this based on the revelation of His character as revealed by Jesus and based on the things He has done for us through Jesus. In The Passion Translation, our first text above says, “Let every activity of your lives and every word that comes from your lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. And bring your constant praise to God the Father because of what Christ has done for you!”

One major thing Jesus came to do was to make God a Father to us just as God is a Father to Him, (John 20:17). Jesus wants us to know that God the Father loves us just as He loves Him, (John 17:23, John 16:27). There are various ways we can worship God as Father. In worshipping God as Father, Paul described God as the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Rom.15:6, 2Cor.1:3, 2Cor.11:31, Eph.1:3, Eph.3:14, Col.1:3). Peter also worshipped God as the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (1Pet.1:3).

Paul also worshipped God as the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, (2Cor.1:3), the Father of glory, (Eph.1:17). James worshipped God as the Father of lights with whom there is no variableness, nor shadow of turning, (James 1:17).

Action Point:
Call God your Father and thank Him for being your Father. Worship Him as Father as you are led by the Spirit.
