MEMORISE: “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; Ephesians 4:22

READ: Ephesians 4:22-24

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Malachi 1-4; Revelation 22

MESSAGE:

A new year begins tomorrow. An opportunity to do better begins tomorrow. Don’t just continue with your old ways, sit down and do a review of how this year has been, then make decisions as to how you can do better next year.

How was your academics this year? How do you want it to be next year? What was your parent’s testimony about you this year? What do you want them to say about you next year? How was your commitment to God this year? How committed to God do you want to be next year? These and many more are questions that you should be asking yourself as you enter the year 2020. It is good to celebrate the New Year, but it is better to make it a better chapter than the previous year.

After making a decision to do better things in 2020, you should also put things in place to ensure that you stick to your decision. For example, if you want to read your Bible more this year, set an alarm on your phone to remind you to read your Bible every morning and also determine not to eat until you have read your Bible that day.

I’m wishing you a better and more productive new year in advance.

KEY POINT:

Don’t just decide to do better, put things in place to ensure you do better in 2020

Hymn 3:

1 There shall be showers of blessing
This is the promise of love;
There shall be season refreshing
Sent from the Savior above

Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drop ’round are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

2 There shall be showers of blessing
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

3 There shall be showers of blessing
Send them upon us O Lord
Grant to us a refreshing;
Come now and honor Thy Word.

4 There shall be showers of blessing
Oh that today thy might fall,
Now as to God we are confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
