YIELD YOUR BODY TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Galatians 5:16 (KJV, GNB), Romans 8:13-14
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. *What I say is this: let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature. *For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Glorifying God in your body is not by power nor by might but by the help of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is described as the glory of the Father (Rom.6:4) and Jesus said the Holy Spirit will glorify Him in our lives, (John 16:13-15). For us to glorify God in our bodies, we must continue to yield ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Your body is the temple and dwelling place of the Holy Spirit and to glorify God in your body, you must keep acknowledging the presence of the Holy Spirit in you and keep yielding yourself to Him. In your day to day living, are you being led by the Spirit of God or by your flesh?
Here is how our first and second texts above are stated in The Passion Translation, “As you yield freely and fully to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, you will abandon the cravings of your self – life.” *For when you live controlled by the flesh, you are about to die. But if the life of the Spirit puts to death the corrupt ways of the flesh, we then taste his abundant life. The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.” If you keep yielding to the cravings of your flesh, your life will be filled with the works of the flesh. But as you keep yielding yourself to the Holy Spirit, He will continue to develop and manifest His nature and fruit in your life, (Gal.5:19-23).
The more you yield and give yourself to the leading of the Holy Spirit, the more He will lead you and give you victory over your flesh.
Prayer:
I thank you Heavenly Father for your Holy Spirit that lives in me. Help me to acknowledge and yield more to the Spirit.
