YIELD YOUR MIND TO THE SPIRIT OF GOD

Romans 8:5-6 (GNB), Colossians 3:2 (KJV)

Those who live as their human nature tells them to, have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants. To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace. *Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

If you are really serious about yielding to the Spirit and living by the leading and control of the Spirit, then you must be more deliberate about what you think and what you fill your mind with. In the Good News Bible, Proverbs 4:23 says, “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” The Passion Translation says, “So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.”

Be careful of all you read, watch and listen to! Evil communication corrupts good manners, (1Cor.15:33). All these things affect how you think and how your life goes. Be careful of your associations, (Psa.1:1). Think thoughts that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of virtue and of praise, (Phil.4:8). Fill your mind with the revelation of Christ, (Col.3:16). In The Passion Translation, our second text above says, “Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm.” Keep renewing and reprogramming your mind with the truth of Christ concerning your life, (Rom.12:2). Without this, you will never be able to walk in the
Spirit. Keep your focus on Christ.

Prayer:
Father, please help me to keep filling my mind with your truth and my realities in Christ, and to keep declaring them to myself.
