YOU ARE A LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT (1)

1Corinthians 15:45-48 (NKJV)

…“The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.

By virtue of your faith in Christ, you are not just a living being or a living soul, like Adam was. You are a life-giving spirit just like Christ. A living soul is a soul who is alive, but a life-giving spirit is a spirit that gives life to others. You have eternal life – God’s kind of life, and just like God, you have been empowered to give life unto others.

Some people think they are going to become life-giving spirits; probably when Christ returns. They think so because the verse that follows our text above says, “And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.” Here, Paul was talking about our bearing the image of Christ in our bodies. That is, when Christ comes back, our bodies will become like His body. But right now, by our faith in Christ, we are already bearing the image of Christ in our spirit. As He is in the Spirit, so we are now. We are life-giving spirits.

The last verse of our text above says, “As was the man of dust, so also ‘are’ those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also ‘are’ those who are heavenly.” Talking about we who are His disciples, in John 17:16, Jesus said, “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” Beloved, you are not of this world. You are heavenly and you are a life-giving spirit just like Christ.

Faith Declaration:
I am not of this world. I am heavenly. I am one with Christ. I am a life-giving spirit just like Christ.
