YOU ARE CHOSEN

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1 (KJV)

It is not the sheep that choose a shepherd. It is a shepherd that determines who his sheep will be. It is a shepherd that goes to the market buys his sheep, puts them together and begins to shepherd them. David said the Lord is my shepherd. In other words, God chose me.
“You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you” (John 15:16 KJV). Your salvation is not your idea. You have not chosen to be saved. He knew you before you were born. Jeremiah, before I formed you, I knew you. While you were yet in your mother’s womb, I ordained you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).

It is God that chose you. “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” (Ephesians 1:4KJV). It is something that He preordained and determined before the world began. So, your salvation was never your idea. He chose you out of many others. He knows your past, present and future. He knows what you are capable of doing. He knows your mistakes. He knows you will make another mistake and yet He chose you. The Lord is my shepherd! He is the one who decided to be my shepherd and because He is my shepherd, I shall not want for health, husband, wife, building, finances and anything that will make life comfortable for me. There is no lack with Him.

David was meditating on this. He compared it to his life as a shepherd. He knew the wellbeing of the sheep was the shepherd’s responsibility. He knew that the flock was well covered. A shepherd knows exactly when to take his sheep to go and drink water.

Your past, your present and your future are covered in Christ. It is taken care of because you are chosen by God.
